I’m hoping in some small way to do a good thing for a nice place. Marks Hall Arboretum is a very nice place and for as long as I can remember they have offered access to their beautiful open space to those who are unable able to walk in the wild, by offering a free buggy service to the elderly and disabled.
Earlier this year, the buggy, broke irreparably. It needs to be replaced. This is no small feat for a tiny environmental charity like Marks Hall. The buggy service is funded entirely by donations, and run entirely by volunteers.
This summer I will be fundraising by cycling a route of about 800km cycle to work (well from work actually) Work is in Mallow, County Cork and home is near to Marks Hall in Essex. I aim to complete the journey alone and unsupported on my bike, over 3-4 days (probably 4 if I’m realistic).
I will be fulfilling a long held ambition to live as a tramp for a short while, stopping only when my legs won’t take me any further and sleeping in a hedge / ditch or possibly a tent if energy permits. I’m hoping that people will sponsor me money to do this… I believe that’s how it’s supposed to work.
I have a sponsorship page at BT MyDonate. Feel free to follow the link, and please do donate if you can. Thank you.
